After my parents would argue my pops would always lock himself away, he lived a very hard life. This man was paramount to me, his movements, his focus, these things are instilled deep within me now. He would lite up his joint, twist the cap off his High Life and play his records. Not many people knew how deeply my father loved music, he was a very cultured man. The Moody Blues was a group he was very fond of, especially the song Nights in White Satin. It’s funny how a song can bring back certain memories vividly, this song for me makes me think of my father, my father rolling up, my father trying to ease the pain.

My man,
I’m with you, but it’s all about the long version with the poem “Late Lament” By drummer Graeme Edge.
Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bed sitter people look back and lament
Another day’s useless energy is spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion
